SUMMER HAYRIDE
Rustlin‘ under the haystack
Playing a game of blackjack
Keeping our wits about us
Although it’s all hilarious
Giggling with a shot of moonshine
Hiding it in my knapsack
Heard about a party function
down at Petticoat Junction.
Playing a ritualistic heave and ho
for the old folks riding horseback.
The Rockabilly starts the motion
for a tincture and a potion.
Lackadaisically dreamily mystified
Wiping the sleep from my eyes
Ready to make an assumption
to joyfully playfully intertwine!
Keeping an optimistic atmosphere
with our hope to magically reappear
amidst the plain and glorious
lost in a state so crazily oblivious.
Rolling out the barrel and the carpet
The hustler proceeded to charm the harlot.
Kickin’ out the jams with you
Cookin’ up some yams and stew
Drinkin’ up that phantom brew
Get that wagon ready to move
Feelin’ so alive
Speakin’ no jive
Get the beehive
Out of my hair
Gimme a chance
Do a square dance
Got my new pants
Ready to wear
Liftin’ up the bales of hay
Put ‘em on the wagon train
Blue grass music we will play
To keep away the pourin’ rain
Feelin’ so fine
Drinkin’ good wine
Make it dandelion
Or nothing at all
Hope we get drunk
Show me your spunk
Give me your funk
And we’ll have a ball
When we roll it right up
Your urge to strut
Will be hotter than the primal fire
I’ll be sayin’ please be my buttercup
If you say no
We’ll dosey-do
till you feel an overcoming desire
Then you’ll be happy I got you so stirred up
Every time we’ll meet will be playtime
And be as natural as a country breeze
I’ll take on a summer hayride
And you’ll forget your miseries
So kick up your feet and enjoy your booze
As the moon begins to rise
We came up with a big surprise
So off on our summer hay ride
It is all open for us to choose
when and where we will arrive.
These pleasures await our taking
with a mild and soothing blues.
