I’M A BEGGAR AND A THIEF

Here is the documentary of an everyday sequence that is unfortunate reality. This is a rhythm and blues poem using the fitting dialect.

I’M A BEGGAR AND A THIEF
You don’t know what I’m feelin’ inside
I’m so dissatisfied.
Got a cardboard box lying over my head
I crawl around half-dead.
Don’t ya worry I’m a social misfit
Can’t do no ‘rithmetic.
I’m just searchin’ for some self-belief
I’m a Beggar and a Thief, Lord!

It’s so rough they took away my welfare
and no one really cares!
Going down to the market square
I’ll steal some apples and pears.
I got some sickness but I ain’t got no bread.
No doctor gives me relief.
I play a blind man with a pan on my head
I’m just a Beggar and a Thief, Lord!

Hard life has come over me overnight.
They’ve evicted me threw me out on the street.
What a fright!
I don’t understand how it’s gonna go on! Yeh!
Oh Lord help me out of this grief! I’m a Beggar and a Thief!

Watchin’ the world from the outside in.
Nobody sees how worrisome I’ve been.
Shinin’ shoes ain’t hap’nin’ no more
Ev’rywhere I stand alone by the door.
I wish I had a chance to choose
I can’t take it; All of this misuse!
Please God help me to find some booze.
Gotta knock out this pain before I hide in this train.

It’s so damned that I can’t be deranged.
Gotta keep my senses now.
All around me are the bankers and bums
I’m always searchin’ for some crumbs.
Gotta find my way through all of this mess
before I’m dying in distress.
Oh! Lord help me back on my feet!
I’m a Beggar and a Thief.

It’s such a crime what they’re doin’
I’m just slippin’ down the tubes
I don’t know who they think they’re foolin’
They so wicked and cruel dude
Please help me lord look at ’em droolin’
I’m sufferin’ from pure starvation
It’s a crisis all ’round the nation
Good God give me some peace and relief
I’m just a Beggar and a thief Lord!
